So with the help of some others I have started up "SEQLDRadar", a radar based in Brisbane and designed for South East Queensland. It currently has 4 feeders and we're working on getting some more to help. The radar also features MLAT (Multilateration), so positions can be calculated for aircraft that do not transmit position. I also added a bunch of map layers that have everything from SIDs and STARs to every IFR waypoint in Australia. The radar is up at seqldradar.net and there is a facebook page here.
Thought the website was looking a bit old so I decided to redo the entire thing. Removed the sidebar, changed the header and added a new menu system. Also removed the click counter and swapping that with a view counter. A lot of other things have changed but I can't remember any of them so I guess you'll find them out if you look hard enough.
So my radar has quite a small range and I've been researching this thing called "MLAT" where you can see the positions of aircraft that aren't transmitting position. Using 3 remote radars you can get those positions, and make the range bigger! So at the moment I've managed to get someone else to feed to my radar, and I'm getting 2 more to feed as well. In the future I may get more than 3 to help with the range and accuracy of the radar. I have also been improving my setup by making the antenna as high as possible, and I will be ordering a professional ADS-B antenna in a few days which should help a lot.
I have recently got into ads-b and all that so I have set up a plane tracker for the brisbane area as well as a live atc feed from my house. The plane tracker is using a Mobile One SCATX antenna with a RTL SDR Dongle and decoded on my server using RTL1090 and Virtual Radar Server for displaying the data. At the moment it has a 160km range at maximum but I am planning to upgrade the antennas of the radar and atc feed. The radar recieves all planes that have a transponder (Nearly every airliner, some military and most general aviation planes). Frequencies that my scanner is scanning are on the feed page. The radar is Here and the ATC feed is Here.
I added a new posting system so there's one file that manages all the posts so it's much easier to add new posts. I also added a thing where when you hover over the links in the header and sidebar they sortof pop out or something and I also changed the background and colours to something better. Also the font is different because the other font was very hard to read and didn't really look good. Also in the sidebar there is now a bug reporter which works via email so you can report a bug that you find.
First post for the website!
